Robs Blog6月10日 Around our HouseOk, I've been a bit lazy about keeping this site up to date (about 2 years ago), so tonight is the night of adding blogs. Over the summer (2007) Belinda and I were pretty busy doing stuff around our house (see Photos - Around our House). I finally finished off a stone wall which I started about 4 years ago and also commenced work on number of other projects which will probably take equally as long to complete. Bee and I both got work in March so the house projects have slowed right down, also the kids started school in Feb and consequently everyone has had quite a lot of change and new routines to get used to, but I think we're finally starting to achieve a bit of harmony. June Bonfire - MylorThis weekend we had our annual bonfire at Mylor. It turned out to be a great evening with clear skies and infinite stars. We had collected a fair bit of wood from around the place so it was a good size fire this year, but recent rains has made the wood pretty damp. The usual fire lighters weren't going to work, so I applied a handy trick I learned from Matt as a teenager .... petrol. Hot embers made to job a bit tricky, so we had to add the petrol by throwing plastic bags from a distance. It kept everyone on their toes and in no time at all we had a good 10m flame.
Bee cooked up some great food and along with good company and a moderate amount of beer and wine , the evening was a very enjoyable one. (see photo album for pickies). 8月27日 Jurasic ParkCiaran has been desperate to visit the dinosaur exhibition at the London Science Museum, and last weekend we took a trip there. On seeing the dinosaur Ciaran was even more desperate to get out, so unfortunately I didn't get any photos of him at the exhibition. It was also Becky's 2nd birthday and we had a nice party at Grandma's. Becky got a tricycle so now she can ride wth Ciaran to the park. 8月13日 Grandma's 70thLast weekend was the annual Fireworks and music show 'battle of the proms', held at Highclere Castle (still privately owned...nice place), which coincidentally tied in nicely with Elizabeth's 70th.
Along with a few thousand other people we took a picnic blanket and collection of food and wine and spent the evening listening to the orchestra, watching the light brigade, cannons and firewaorks. See Grandma's Photo album for a few shots. 8月3日 Sue and Julian's place 2005We went to Belinda's sister's place last weekend (end of July) - See photo album, and went for a walk along the south coast. Also took the kids to a stream train park and went for a few rides on the model trains.
Julian's keen on doing a motor bike trip across Eruope in a couple of years. I'm up for it if I'm still herer so it's a long term plan at the oment. Kangaroo Island 2005During Jun 05, while I was slaving my butt off in Birmingham, Belinda took the kids to Kangaroo Island for a long weekend with Mark and Nat. They visited to Little Sahara and Sela Bay and stayed in a cottage in Vivan Bay while there. At the end of the month they flew out to meet me in the UK. 8月2日 Camping in the Flinders - Mar 05Last w/e we headed up to Melrose to relive my year 10 school camp experience with Belinda and the kids (Ciaran 4yrs and Rebecca 1yr). See my photo album 'Flinders Ranges 05' for pictures. Did the wine tasting on the way up through the Claire valley and made camp for the night near Aligator Gorge at Mt. Remarkable National Park. Hiked the gorge in the moring, then headed to Port Germein for a quick dip in the ocean. The second night we based ourselves in Wirraberra forest, stopped at the King Tree (a 400 year old gum which managesd to survive logging in the early 1900s), and then made our way to Burra in the afternoon to check out some of the towns history. Nice place with loads of interesting old buildings (miners dugouts, jails etc.). Finally headed home that evening.
Apologies Kathy. I managaed to screw up this entry when adding some photos and had to recreate it. Your entry was deleted. I also remember the camping trip with you and your family up that way. I miss doing things like that. |
